The first installment of an incredible novel by George Macdonald, this volume introduces the main character of this three part journey, Thomas Wingfold. His dutiful demeanor and routine religious position are reflected in his faith, which has become stagnant and rote. Throughout Volume 1, Thomas begins to wrestle with certain aspects of his beliefs and encounters several individuals with unique perspectives that eventually spark sincere reflection in this quiet figure. About the Author

George MacDonald

George MacDonald was a Scottish author, poet, and minister. Renowned for his innovative contributions to modern fantasy literature, MacDonald played a pivotal role in influencing such luminaries as C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, G.K. Chesterton and Oswald Chambers, amongst many others. His profound creativity extended beyond fairy tales, as he also penned numerous thought-provoking works on Christian theology, including several compelling collections of sermons, as well as other fiction works. Oswald Chambers said of MacDonald, “It is a striking indication of the trend and shallowness of the modern reading public that George MacDonald’s books have been so neglected,” and C.S. Lewis is famously quoted as saying of MacDonald’s The Princess and the Goblin, "...[it] made a difference to my whole existence." With his literary giftedness and deep spiritual insights, MacDonald left an indelible mark on the world of literature and faith.

There are books for me, and books for my daughter. I've been challenged, inspired, encouraged and I feel like it's really strengthening my walk with the Lord!
I love the REF-UL app. I am always on the go and I need something inspiring to listen to, but that can get eeeexpensive. Not with REF-UL. This app HAS EVERYTHING I NEED: I play it, I like it, I go on listening. Or I play it, it doesn’t resonate, and I go to the next title. I DON’T HAVE TO PAY MORE! And what is best is it has not only my favorite authors, but also the ones I have never listened to but are on my bucket list.
