Doctrine and Life as Fuel and Fire

9h 32m

ISBN: 978-1-64689-445-1

Description

Martyn Lloyd-Jones, commonly referred to as “the Doctor,” had a successful career in medicine before abandoning it all to become a preacher in London. His sermons―displaying the life-changing power of biblical truth―diagnosed the spiritual condition of his congregation and prescribed the gospel remedy.

This study of Lloyd-Jones’s life will encourage and exhort readers to consider the role of the knowledge of God, the power of the Spirit, and the fullness of Christ in their daily lives, allowing them to discover the inseparable union of doctrine and the Christian life.

About the Author

Sinclair B. Ferguson

Sinclair Buchanan Ferguson, a Scottish theologian, is well-regarded in Reformed Christian circles for his teaching, writing, and editorial contributions, and he currently holds the esteemed position of Chancellor's Professor of Systematic Theology at Reformed Theological Seminar.

Ferguson's journey in ministry began when he was ordained as a minister in the Church of Scotland in 1971. He dedicated a decade of his life as the minister of St. John's, Baltasound, the northernmost parish in Scotland, located on the island of Unst, Shetland. Eager to expand his knowledge and share his expertise, he accepted a teaching position as a part-time Professor of Systematic Theology at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia.

Since 2013, Ferguson has been actively involved in the ministry at St. Peter's Free Church in Dundee, where he serves as a preacher and elder. In 2022, a Festschrift was published in his honor, highlighting his significant contributions to theology. Ferguson has also made a mark as an editor with the Banner of Truth Trust and as a professor of systematic theology at Redeemer Seminary in Dallas. Notably, he has held the esteemed Charles Krahe Chair for Systematic Theology at Westminster Theological Seminary.

A beloved author, teacher and pastor, Dr. Ferguson continues to serve the Body of Christ in many roles, which include as a council member of the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals and currently serving as a teaching fellow for Ligonier Ministries.

I love the REF-UL app. I am always on the go and I need something inspiring to listen to, but that can get eeeexpensive. Not with REF-UL. This app HAS EVERYTHING I NEED: I play it, I like it, I go on listening. Or I play it, it doesn’t resonate, and I go to the next title. I DON’T HAVE TO PAY MORE! And what is best is it has not only my favorite authors, but also the ones I have never listened to but are on my bucket list.
There are books for me, and books for my daughter. I've been challenged, inspired, encouraged and I feel like it's really strengthening my walk with the Lord!
