La confession de foi et la doctrine baptistes

Au cours des dernières années, nous avons assisté à une véritable recrudescence d’intérêt pour la foi réformée dans les milieux évangéliques francophones. Nous avons pu voir cet intérêt se concrétiser par une approche confessionnelle chez de plus en plus de chrétiens et d’Églises. L’approche confessionnelle ne consiste pas uniquement à confesser personnellement sa foi par des énoncés doctrinaux, mais à le faire de concert avec l’Église.

L’Église n’est pas appelée à réinventer le christianisme à chaque génération, mais à confesser de génération en génération « la foi qui a été transmise aux saints une fois pour toutes » (Jud 3). Elle se doit de transmettre aux nouveaux croyants cet héritage fondé dans la doctrine biblique. Les confessions de foi et les catéchismes qui s’inscrivent dans l’orthodoxie chrétienne reconnue sont d’excellents outils pédagogiques pour approfondir et communiquer l’enseignement biblique.

Dans ce recueil, nous vous présentons trois documents qui intègrent simultanément la doctrine chrétienne universelle, l’essentiel de la Réforme protestante et les particularités de la foi baptiste. Ces documents sont suffisamment détaillés pour communiquer clairement les articles fondamentaux de la foi chrétienne, sans être exhaustifs ou exagérément pointus dans toutes les précisions théologiques.
